Bruce's post-doctoral training included internship at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia residency at Los Angeles County – USC Medical Center and a Hematology fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu, Hawaii, and attained the rank of Major. Bruce’s military service took place in the U.S. Bruce is also survived by his younger brother Joseph Chosney, and two grandchildren Kamillah Nabi and Ashlan Nabi. They were married for 55 years and have three children: Gabrielle (Famun) Nabi, Brett Chosney, and Craig Chosney. Bruce married Michele Madeleine Evans in June 1967.

His college years were spent at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. Bruce attended Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, New Jersey, receiving his diploma in 1960. Chosney, an engineer, and Eugenia Wachauf Chosney, a high school teacher. Bruce Theodore Chosney was born November 10, 1942, in Newark, New Jersey.
